Angelika’s Photo Journal
Great Falls from March 19 to 22, 2009
Here come a three photos from this year’s Native American Art Show in Great Falls.
On the top photo to the right is Duane Wilcox the Oglala artist with the French flair. I surely enjoyed talking to Duane about his art, Pine Ridge and the Native American art market. His humor is very prominent in his paintings and makes a chat with him also worthwhile. Duane is a well recognized artist represented by a top Native American art gallery in Santa Fe.
The middle photo shows Darrell in his booth surrounded by his work out of rawhide, buckskin and stone. To the left on the stand is collaborative artwork, our pastel rendered digital par fleches. I transfered Darrell’s par fleche paintings onto Watercolor paper and painted on them with soft pastels.
On the bottom in his booth his David Dragonfly, the Blackfeet / Assineboine artist and the acting curator of the Plains Indian Museum in Browning. David’s main art form are collagraphs.
About 25 Native American artist participated in this years show at the Civic Center. I hope next year there will be more again, because the show has a very friendly atmosphere and many returning customers. Artists also enjoy the meeting other the artists. I also hope the volunteer committee will get help and funding to increase and improve their advertising. For example, their webpage www.nativeamericanartshow.com is not working at the moment.
